Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 12:24PM Micah Apparel ( Parent company of Tweet Tees ) gave away over $1k in apparel and retail merchandise to a tremendous cause for Charity water. Here is a brief write up about the event and the purpose.
http://twestivalsf.wordpress.com/2009/02/12/eat-sleep-tweet-offers-special-discount/
On 12 February 2009 202 cities around the world held Twestivals, bringing together the Twitter community for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.
Current total raised from Global Twestival is over $250,000 USD - confirmation from over 80 cities is still pending.
$250,000 USD = 55 water projects in Ethiopia, Uganda and India - clean water for just over 17,000 people.
Amounts will be calculated for each city on this website once the money has been received by charity: water.
Fundraising for Twestival has been extended, so please continue to donate.
At the start of April, the first well funded by Twestival donations will be drilled in Ethiopia and we will be documenting this and sharing updates online.
Check here for news and updates over the next few weeks.
